There are several different types of French language instruction, all of which vary in important ways, from the programs’ educational goals to the linguistic make-up of the student body.

Francophone students in the United States, however, can choose from five types of diplomas: the American high school diploma, the French baccalaureate, the international option of the French baccalaureate, the international baccalaureate, and the French-American baccalaureate.
